Crafty Momma: The Inside of the Turkey Cards

I finally got inspired for the inside of my turkey cards for Thanksgiving.

I like to mix typefaces, so here I used Trebuchet and Amelie. (You can purchase Amelie at myfonts.com.)

I distressed the edges, added some little snaps in the corners then signed our names. I prefer to hand-write the names in instead of printing them - makes it a little more personalized, I think.

(Oh, I took step-by-step photos of distressing the edges because I've had friends ask how to do it. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll post them.)

Side note: I know I've got brass eyelets somewhere in my craft room, but since it's pure chaos in there, I figured I'd just use the snaps since I knew where to find them! It will forever bug me that they are shiny silver and not something that matches better with the feel of the card. I'm weird; I know!

Do you tear the edges and then use a cat eye to ink the edge? That's how I distress the edges of my cards.

Turned out SO cute. Love them and I'm sure everyone who gets one will too!

Can you come to CT for a week and hold my hand thru all these wonderful projects? No, actually, I like designing holiday cards on my own. I just wish we had a fabulous printer like the one at work...Staples stinks (and the salespeople are cluless--and mean). Cute card!

I use a metal ruler to serve as a straight edge to tear the edges. Then, I use my secret ingredient: Eye shadow. I know, it's super low-tech! I just use the darkest brown (which I don't use much but it always comes in the combos). I like the dry-brushed effect without having to waste so much paint to achieve the same look.

And, you know that tearing the paper in different directions - and on different sides of the ruler - achieve different edges. I usually am meticulous to use the same tear on all four sides, but for this project I just tore without thought.

(I don't do as many crafty projects as I'd like because I'm a little too critical on myself if something isn't quite right!)

Just popped over from The Stiletto Mom.

Turkey cards? I have a hard enough time with Christmas cards. I like to let JR (the husband) do the Christmas cards as his contribution. I'm inclusive that way.

Our youngest son's name is Noah also though he's a tad older than yours. http://michele-dogslife.blogspot.com/2008/11/happy-birthday-son.html
