I HATE TO BAKE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES.
Frankly, I pretty much hate to bake any cookies.
See those lumpy cow patties there? No, those are actually the chocolate chip cookies I just baked. Sad, I know.
I think it comes from my need for perfection in the kitchen. I just can't seem to make a perfect cookie.
When a sauce is too thin or too thick, I know how to fix it. When something is too salty or too sweet, I know how to fix it. But, with cookies, you get one shot - once they're in the oven, all you have is prayer that they'll turn out nice.
Don't get me wrong - they taste great. I even added a little nutmeg, which is what my Granny did and it made the best chocolate chip cookies. But, why eat a homemade cow turd when I can pick up some picture perfect treats at the bakery?

I am the complete opposite. I LOVE making chocolate chip cookies and hate making just about anything else! Good to see y'all Saturday - hope all is well.
See, I think they look delicious! Just the way I like them, with a crispy edge. Did you use real butter? I think I read somewhere that real butter will yield a flatter cookie with crispy edges. Margarine will give you a slightly puffier cookie while shortening will give you a cake-like cookie. Or something like that. Heck, what do I know.
Cookie dough, hidden deep in refrigerator. Never admit to it and only back in private...there's your answer...or mine anyway.
Listen, there is no such thing as a bad chocolate chip cookie! I would eat those in a heartbeat.
they taste fantastic ... but the perfectionist in me wants them to look fantastic too! My girlfriend who is the queen of desserts said she stopped using that same recipe because they come out ugly. I know, looks aren't everything, but they do make good even better!
